with Cognitive Disorders including Alzheimer's and Dementia
require therapeutic and arts services that are responsive to
their strengths and limitations. The use of dance/movement therapy
and art therapy provide highly structured activities to address
a senior's need to feel supported and secure. Art therapy and
dance/movement therapy are primarily non-verbal and expressive

ARTS THERAPISTS
Therese
Collentine, MS, ADTR is an advanced registered dance/movement
therapist and has provided movement and dance therapy services
to seniors for over ten years. She has worked with older adults
with Alzheimer's, dementia, physical disabilities, mental illness
and other cognitive disorders. Therese has provided services
to Orinda Convalescent Hospital, Chaparral House, Contra Costa
Regional Medical Center and Gladman Mental Health Rehabilitation
Center.
Rachael
MacKay, MA, ATR is a registered art therapist with over
ten years of experience working with the elderly, adolescents
and children. She provided art therapy to Summit Hospital's
Senior Bridges Gero-psychiatric inpatient hospital program and
their Adult Day Treatment program. She provides individual art
therapy services to clients with brain injury and cognitive
impairments at Rossmore Retirement Community.
