PROFESSIONAL SKILLS

Psychiatric Hospital Setting: Designed and implemented the first ever creative arts therapy program for a rural inpatient acute care psychiatric unit, which also had a substance abuse, adolescent, and gero-psychiatric component. Met with patients both individually and in group, and was a member of the clinical treatment team. Worked as an on-call social worker and crisis clinician. Extensive training in non-violent restraint interventions, crisis interventions, and CPR. Held inservices and slide lectures for hospital staff members which were approved for professional Continuing Education Units. Supervised two recreational assistants, and one student.

Out-Patient Setting: Worked individually with patients in an out-patient mental health center. Held case study presentations at clinical planning meetings. Wrote progress notes in client charts, and provided necessary forms and information to insurance reviewers. Provided supervision to student clinicians.

Educational Setting: Created a therapeutic art therapy program for the Pittsfield Public School system working with adolescents with special needs and emotional difficulties. Worked with teachers and parents to formulate specific treatment goals and objectives for each student. Lectured at the Peru, MA Elementary School on "Coping With Grief and Loss Through Art" - attended by students, teachers and administrators.
